The thought that spectrum thinks users are too dumb to set their own ports is insulting. You say it’s for advance users but Xbox and PlayStation are average users. Your answer is buy your own modem. This is control of my network that you shouldn’t have. We want access to our own ports. You are causing a double nat and a strict nat on all my game systems. Please, give us access. We pay you not to control our home networks.

    Good afternoon.

     

    If you would like to manage the connection yourself you are free to use your own router and place our modem in bridged mode. Alternately you can purchase your own modem.  This has nothing to do with our belief that our customers are "too dumb". It a restriction with our equipment which you are not required to use.
