League of Legends and potentialy other game ping spike
So my problem started a couple of weeks ago, i would say July 2020, My ping in game use to be 75-82. I virtually had no lag at all thankfully. However, whatever happen that afternoon on one faithful day on mid july, my ping went up to 90 and stayed that way. I called spectrum and they sent a tech out to "fix" the problem. The tech said everything was good, there isn't an issue with my wiring. I changed the modem (i had two different modem, the "new one" that spectrum recently sent out which had a lot of problems and my first modem which works perfectly) and router and nothing has change, i was still receiving 90 ping in game. There was only one time where my ping was normal and it was only like that for one game but my ping soon returned to 90. Just recently, on Thursday the 24 of September, My ping jumped to 100 and stayed that way ever since. I nearly tried everything from how to guides on youtube to getting a new laptop and nothing has helped. I tried hard wiring once to see if it was the router but the ping stayed the same. I've been using wifi since the beginning and i doubt it's the router fault. I've tried 3 different routers and there was no significant changes to my ping. My internet speed has been normal so it can't be the speed. If anyone can assist me with this problem to get a grasp of the underlying problem, i would be grateful.
TL:DR my ping in league of legends (and possibly other games) gradually rose to 100 from 75 and i tried nearly everything to fix it, even changing laptop and equipment but worked so far. I talked to customer support and they said it could be because my modem is a 3.0 and spectrum new modem was a 3.1 but the problem started when i had the 3.1 modem..
