Why is a cable box required for MLB Extra Innings (I can view on Tivo w/cable card)

When I purchased MLB Extra Innings, the person who helped me said the system requires that a cable box is on my account and it will cost me $8.99/month. Only after she added the the box could she add Extra Innings. But I have been watching the Extra Innings (low 700s) without a cable box via my Tivo (which has a cable card and Tuning Adapter).

    Hi and welcome!

MLB Extra Innings requires an HD receiver to receive the signal., the channel is not available with any of our streaming only packages. This can be accomplished with a standard cable box (most customers choose this option), or when using a CableCard on your own device, such as a TiVo.

Thanks for the reply. I am able to watch those MLB channels with the Tivo+cable card only. I do not require a cable box to receive and view my channels. So I am curious why does Spectrum require that I must have a cable box for Extra Innings?

Thank you for following up. When you try to tune to these channels, what happens? Do you receive any error messages.
