I have recently noticed that when I try to open the app, it will initially bomb and then work flawlessly on the 2nd attempt. Any ideas of what is happening?

I'm sorry to hear about the Roku issues. I can honestly say that issue is one I haven't heard before. Have you tried rebooting the Roku through the settings on the home page yet?
