Tip: Have a "Smart TV?" Wait For Home Bar & Menus to Clear Your Screen When Turning on your TV/Box

Guys,

A lot of people, especially elderly people, who have Smart TV's do not understand that Smart TV's are little computers that run Internet apps that need time to activate when the TV/box is turned on.

Sometimes, an elderly relative of mine does not wait for the Home Bar to clear the screen when turning on the cable box and TV for the day. This can cause a lock up condition to the box, where you will have to reboot it. I have told her about this twice over the last several months.

Always wait til the home bar and any box on-screen menus clear the screen if your box is connected to a Smart TV. This can happen within 15-30 seconds after turning on the set, or if an update has been recently downloaded, it may take a minute or so for the on screen menus to clear. Wait for all on screen graphics to clear before doing any remote commands. when turning on your TV/box.
