Internet frequently stops, except for Google websites

About once or twice a day, my Spectrum internet goes out, other then specific Google-owned websites (Google, Drive, Youtube). Almost every other website will not load until after the modem is reset. This is happening for both ethernet and Wifi. I'm not sure what could be causing this. This issue has been happening for about 2 months now.

Modem: Cisco DPC3216

Router: TP-Link AC1750 Smart WiFi Router (Archer A7)

Thanks!

    Hi @mattfivezero, welcome to our community!

    If you are only losing connection to specific sites, it is unlikely to be a signal issue or damaged equipment. Are you using a VPN or Proxy on your home network? Do you have your DNS set to acquire automatically in both your router and your devices, or do you have a 3rd party DNS set? Do you get an error page or does it just stay blank white?

    @William_M Thank you!

    I'm not using a VPN or proxy, and I have my router set to Dynamic IP to get my DNS automatically. When connecting to most websites, the connection times out on any browser and any device.

    I do believe this to be related to my IP/DNS settings though. When the internet went out yesterday, I tried the Release and Renew buttons (screenshot above) to see what would happen. It couldn't acquire an IP until after I reset the modem.

    Hello @mattfivezero

    Thank you for the additional information. To rule out any issues with the home network, have you tried to temporarily eliminate the router by plugging one device directly into the modem? When you do this, you will want to reboot the modem and try to surf that way to see what happens. If it does not occur with a device connected directly to the modem, the issue is likely with the router. If it does happen connected directly to the modem, please let us know so we can troubleshoot this further with you.
