Is FOX "Truely" Broadcasting in 5.1?

Was watching NFL yesterday on my HT setup. Switching between games on CBS, FOX, and NFL Redzone. Noticed that when watching FOX, audio volume was MUCH lower and only came through center speaker. Switch to CBS game and immediately get full surround audio. Back speakers, etc. NFL Redzone also plays through all speakers.

    Sup @juryman?

Were you watcching through a cable box? How is your Home Theatre configured? To test, could you temporarily play the audio on Fox through your TV speakers? You might want to reach out to Fox in your area and ask that their engineering department be contacted on this issue. Spectrum only broadcasts the signals given to them by the broadcaster.

Is this just for NFL games, or other programs on Fox as well? How is commercial volume on Fox?

Were you watching through a cable box?

    -Yes

How is your Home Theatre configured?

-Why should that have anything to do with it? I get full 5.1 surround on other channels that broadcast it. I have been watching World Cup soccer broadcasts on FS1 and they are coming in full surround mode. ABC College football, same. CBS NFL games, same. Only FOX I noticed is not broadcasting full surround.

To test, could you temporarily play the audio on Fox through your TV speakers?

-That does not make sense. How can I possibly get surround sound with only 2 speakers that are built into my tv? Technically not possible. Need at least 5.1 and a HT receiver that can decode the signal.

Is this just for NFL games, or other programs on Fox as well?

-Anything that they are supposed to be broadcasting in surround sound.

How is commercial volume on Fox?

-Near the same volume as the programming. Maybe a little higher.

    @juryman ,

I agree with you. It sounds like the way that Fox is transmitting its signal to Spectrum for your area is the culprit of this problem.

Been days without a reply. Guess Spectrum does not have an answer for me.

@Satch if that is the case, then its Spectrum's problem to fix. Not mine.

Anyone else out there experiencing the same problem?

    Several more examples...

Soccer World Cup on today. Two games on at 10am and again at 2pm. Fox and Fox Sports 1 (FS1) showing the games. In both time slots the FS1 broadcast game finished early, so FS1 began showing the end of the game that Fox was showing. Perfect time to test, I figured. Same game, same broadcast. FS1 broadcasting in Dolby Digital Surround, Fox is NOT. Only front 3 speakers playing all the audio.

If that doesnt tell you, Spectrum, that there is something wrong with the Fox feed, I dont know what does.

OH and my final test. Turned on the game on a third TV that is OTA feed. Info on broadcast shows Dolby Digital. Feed is coming OTA in DD.
