Is there a way to automatically empty trash upon logout or simplify the process?

Deleting email is cumbersome. It takes 5 steps to delete an email. They are:

1) select the email to be deleted

2) delete email

3) confirm deletion

4) click purge

5) confirm purge

Surely there is a faster and more efficient way to delete email.

Go into settings and turn on Permanently Delete Emails (Permanently delete emails instead of sending them to your trash folder.)
