Task 'Charter - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC6F)
I started to receive the following error message when sending email from MS Outlook. I haven't had this problem before today. I can receive email just fine. Sending and receiving email using GMail app on my Android device works fine.
Task 'Charter - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC6F) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) email server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ???'

That can happen if your IP address is spam-source blacklisted. If you're using a VPN, try bypassing or disabling it. If, instead, your Charter Spectrum IP address is also or is instead blacklisted, you might end up having to wait for it to cool off enough to cycle back out of blacklist territory.
I think it must have something to do with IP address at my office as I can send just fine when I am at home.
Good morning @bfukumoto,
Welcome to the Community! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with sending mail. I am happy to look into this for you. You mentioned that you are using the Outlook mail client. Have you tried sending mail directly from the server at webmail.spectrum.net? Are you able to send emails from there?
I am able to send and receive Spectrum email using Gmail app on my Android phone, Chromebook, directly from spectrum.net and from my Windows PC from home.
Thank you for clarifying! That would indicate that the issue is within the Outlook mail client. Have there been any recent updates to your Outlook?
Why would you conclude that when I can send/receive from Outlook when connected to the Internet outside of my work office?
My apologies, I missed where you stated that the issue is only happening when you're at the office. You mentioned that you are able to send/receive Spectrum emails on every method other than the Outlook app which would point to the app as possibly being the issue. However, since it works outside of your work office it is possible that if you are using a VPN at work, it could be that the VPN is causing the block as a security measure.
No VPN at the office. Our ISP is Comcast and AT&T in the office.
Have you tried accessing Webmail while in the office? Can you send from there while in the office?
I will try that on Tuesday when I am back in my office.
This is definitely a Spectrum issue, which I have to say is the WORST service I have ever had. Always trying to pass the buck and say it is someone else's problem instead of taking accountability and fixing the issue. I am not able to send emails from work and now I am traveling and cannot send emails from the hotel. I am getting the same error....

I have been online with Microsoft as well and they said it is a Spectrum issue. Please take accountability and fix it.
Same issue persists for me. And I believe I had an email hang-up from sending on GMail on my Android smartphone as well yesterday for the first time. Not sure if it is the same issue as I didn't get an error message, but the mail was stuck in my Outbox until I left my office.

@Cboisvert2023 That IP address does not have a reverse DNS record published and it's bound to get SMTP rejected until it does. It belongs to an Autonomous System operated by Verizon Business in affiliation with Hobbs Brook Management. Only they can fix it. Just use the webmail portal in the meantime.
