My old Sony is giving it up and I am looking at a Samsung ----- lets of good reviews on here.

But what the guy at BB can't tell me is " what is Tizen"? All Samsung models now are marked tizen

Anyone can explain this? Good thing or something to be avoided. I have an old Samsung (7 years or so) but it's not makred tizen.

Thanks!

    Hello!

Tizan is the Linux-based operating system that runs on new Samsung TV's.

One question: is it a "background" function? i.e., do I need to get involved with it beyoind the standard remote control functions?

    No,

Nothing you have to do. Samsung's are literally plug and play. The on-screen menus tell you how to set up everything.
