How can I tell if my cable TV box is on power save mode?

Sometimes after watching the same channel for hours, I get a pop-up message "To continue watching, press any button." Some sources say it may be because the cable box is on power save mode. If it is, I'd like to turn that off. MY box is a Cisco 4742HDC.

Here is a video that shows you how to turn off Power Save Mode:

I guess the power save mode isn't the answer. I checked and that setting and it's off.
@deedleann824,
Are you running Spectrum Guide on that box?
Satch
Hello,
The issue could also be that you are watching a "Switched Digital Video" channel when the message appears:
When it comes down to the “press any button to continue watching” message, there are high chances that you are watching the switched digital video channel. This is a technology used by some Spectrum markets for adding channels to the Spectrum system without increasing the bandwidth. It is commonly known as SDV. So, if you are using the SDV, you have to increase the internet bandwidth to ensure the streaming is optimized.
@HT_Greenfield or anyone, is there a workaround for the above? Or a setting exclusive to Spectrum Guide that will disable the pop-up prompt?
Satch
I watch a few channels regularly and I've noticed it on FXX and Comedy Central.
I'm not sure what you mean by "Spectrum Guide".
@deedleann824 ,
Spectrum Guide is the newest version of the guide software loaded onto cable boxes. If you Google Spectrum, What Guide do I Have, one of the first listings in the search will have you enter your address. Than, you will see all the cable guides for your area.
Satch
Okay. I did that, but none shown look like what displays when I use the GUIDE button.
@deedleann824 ,
Do you have a video camera where you can post a screenshot of your guide?
Satch
@deedleann824 ,
I have your same guide. It is ODN. Spectrum's somewhat older, but still very popular guide. I suspect that the "Press any key to continue" is an SDV issue. Not much you can do about that, there are a few channels in Spectrum markets that run off of SDV to save system bandwidth..

If it’s doing that after four hours of inactivity, then i think it’s power save mode nevertheless. Next time it happens, leave it alone and see if the box turns off. If power save mode appears to be off, turn it on and then turn it off and if that doesn’t kill it, then turn the box off and unplug it and let it cool off for five minutes and then plug it back in and go from there.
I’m having a similar issue on Reelz channel. I have gotten a pop up that says ‘push any button to continue watching’, but more often I get a pop up that says ‘to continue watching push ‘A’ (yellow triangle)’. If I don’t push it in 30 seconds the screen goes black with ‘spectrum’ on the screen. If I was watching a show that I had rewound to the beginning, I lose the entire time it was rewound to. Does anyone know why it does that? Thanks
Hello @RMcK78
Welcome to the Community! Your situation is a little bit different and sounds like a signal problem. Reboot your box, and if you have Spectrum Internet, after your box reboots, reboot your modem and router as well.
If the issue comes back, you will need to call Spectrum to have a tech come out to test your signal levels for Reelz channel. When you call to set up the appointment, tell the CSR you have already rebooted your equipment, and the problem came back. When the tech comes, tune to the Reelz channel so that he can take a signal reading.
