Does Spectrum have to receive my DVR box before I can get Cloud DVR?

I was told by a Spectrum rep that I Had to return my DVR box before I could get Cloud service. Is this so?? Please clarify.

    Welcome to our community! I apologize for the confusion. You can have both regular DVR service and Cloud DVR service at the same time or just have one or the other, so you wouldn't need to return the physical DVR first. The main thing would be that once Cloud DVR is added to the account, within the app you wouldn't be able to manage the physical DVR, it would have to be done through the menu on the box itself.
