Do I have to return the modem for the Internet as well?

The only modem I have is for the Internet, which was sent to me free of charge over a year ago;

If I choose to cancel cable, do I have return it as well. I may or may not cancel cable, but I do want and intend to keep the Internet

If you are keeping Internet and cancelling cable, then only the equipment related to the cable subscription would need to be returned. The modem would only need to be returned if the Internet subscription was cancelled as well.
