New Modem Received

I received a new Spectrum modem the other day and then text messages to install it. I have always used my own purchased modems for a long time now due to the fact that I wasn't going to pay rent on a modem making my bill higher.

Is this modem free? If so I will install it. Thank you.

    Hello! Welcome to the Spectrum Community!

    I understand the confusion. We do not charge to lease our modem so you can use ours if you like. You were most likely sent a new modem if your current modem is outdated such as being a Docsis 3.0 modem instead of the Docsis 3.1 modem that we are requiring now. If you wish to use your own modem and want to upgrade it to a more compatible modem you can go to this link here to check the approved modem list.
