Why does Spectrum force us to use their DNS servers?

I am actually angry about being forced to use Spectrum's DNS! Why can't I use 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1? This in anti-consumer!!! Tried to use DNS servers of my choice and it breaks connectivity. If this keeps up I am going back to ATT!!

Hi @Steve_Warren, welcome to our community!

We don't require that you use our DNS servers, customers can and many do use their 3rd party DNS options like Google or Open DNS. Are you setting the DNS through the router or directly on your device, and what message do you get when trying to load web pages?

In my case Spectrum actual wound up being one of the faster ones to respond when I ran one of those benchmark tools.

If you frequent the same sites often enough, it winds up pulling a cached response anyway.

I have google/openDNS in the client's lists for the backup though, just in case.
