Why does the Guide and Navigation on the App have a delay?

I am finding the navigation and control to call up the guide and view my library does not always respond or has a delay such that when I think I am selecting one thing, something entirely different happens or is called up?

    I've merged these posts as they are both issues with app performance. Please make sure your devices software is up to date, reinstall the app, and reboot your internet modem and router.

    I have been watching Fox News the last several mornings and the live stream skips back several seconds every minute or so. I had to switch apps to correct the issue.
