I recently added a VPN to my computer and since then anytime I try sending email it just sits in the outbox until I close the VPN. I spend over an hour with support on the VPN and they determined it is a Charter issue. The VPN is US based. All Charter settings were verified and correct per Charter specifications. I can send emails from the web-based Charter site. I've read other posts talking about the same problem going back as far as October 2023. Is there a solution for this issue??

It's just as likely as anything else that the VPN IP address that you're hitting the applicable SMTP server with is on any number of spam blacklists and, in some cases, such could apply to all IP addresses of any given autonomous system by association if the collective heuristics are bad enough. In any case, you're not ever really a stranger to your own provider's SMTP service, VPN or not, so i'd just bypass the VPN for that and forget about it.

Otherwise explore the fault indications and see if you can scare up the rejection bounceback fault dialog and take note of the SMTP as well as the AUP fault code numbers and let me know what you find out. If you're not getting a bounceback, then you must not even be reaching the SMTP server, which would be far from necessarily your ISP's fault with a VPN at play.
