“Enjoy Paramount+ With Showtime On Us” email in not true

Hello. I received the Great News email and followed the link to activate access. I was only given access to the Paramount+ Essentials plan not the Paramount+ with Showtime plan as clearly stated in the email. I called your help desk and was told the Essentials plan is correct. I am new to this community and apologize if this is not the right forum for this post. The only thing I’d like to be noted is that your marketing team worded this email to clearly state that access to Paramount+ with Showtime is what was offered, not Paramount+ Essentials. I’m grateful for the access Paramount+ but disappointed it does not include Showtime as promised. Thanks.

    Hey Three Bells, Welcome to Our Community!

    The Email you got about "Enjoy Showtime on us" is a scam and was not sent by Spectrum. You should report that email as Spam so it goes to your junk folder. The real email from Spectrum should say, "Enjoy Paramount+ on us."

    This is the link to follow: Before clicking on "Activate Now.:"

    https://www.spectrum.com/cp/plus-activation

    1.) Read the frequently Asked Questions at the bottom of the page.

    2.) Verify that you have a Spectrum Select or MILatino CATV Package.

    3.) If you want Showtime, you will need to call Spectrum to add it to your account for $10.00 a month.

    4,) The Sprectrum-Paramount+ offer does not over-ride third party Paramount+ offers. You would have to cancel those subscriptions so that you are not billed by Paramount+.

    I take it that the email message you describe should have only gone to Silver or Gold Spectrum TV subscribers:

    The big issue here,

    Why would Spectrum be promoting a deduct plan? Spectrum Silver and Spectrum Gold are legacy plans. Legacy subs get Showtime for free, but those on more modern plans have to pay $10 more for Showtime? Something doesn't see right here.

    It sounds through this update that the email was legit.

    I meant "defunct" not "deduct."

    Good Evening @Lyn_T, @ThreeBells and @HT_Greenfield

    The page that you pulled up, @HT_Greenfield, the last part of the page where it talks about Spectrum Gold and Silver plans getting Showtime for free, the link that says paramountplus/partner/spectrum does not open up to a Spectrum site. It opens up to Paramount+'s regular site, so if Spectrum subs go to that link they will wind up paying for Paramount+ and Showtime through Paramount+. I added a photo to illustrate. Yes, @ThreeBells, provide a date that the email was sent if you can. Thank you @Lyn_T for investigating!

    @ThreeBells : what @Lyn_T said!

    @Satch : good point! I take back my suggestion that it should have only gone to Silver and Gold subs.

    It turns out that what used to be simply known as SHOWTIME as far as Spectrum had been concerned was renamed some time ago to a Paramount+ with SHOWTIME network subscription even though it's not the same thing as Paramount's direct-to-consumer Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan on Paramount+ and, as a matter of fact, if you subscribe for the former via Spectrum, the latter is supposedly available for you, on the house. So i could see an email saying something to that effect, especially if you already had the former via Spectrum at the time, whether via Silver or Gold or à la carte!

    I received 2 emails (both worded the same). First at 5:24p on 8/28/24, the second at 4:07p on 9/1/24. Times are eastern.

    @ThreeBells

    As stated above, Spectrum TV Select customers enjoys free access to Paramount +, and subscribers with a Silver or Gold plan will have access to Paramount + and Showtime.

    If there is still confusion or if there was a mis-communication, can you provide a screenshot of the email(s) you received and we can forward any errors to the marketing team for corrections. Please be sure to redact any private information, including your full name.

    Thanks!

    Thank you James!

    There is some confusion. I think that most people understand the Spectrum Select+ Essentials is now included with all Spectrum Select and MI Latino packages, That's the easy part.

    Some confusion remains as to why legacy customers still on Spectrum Select Silver and Gold plans get Showtime for free now, when those on modern Spectrum Select and Mi Latino plans, who upgraded from original Gold and Silver packages don't get free Showtime.

    The circumstances are that before Spectrum updated their packages and made all premium channels Ala-carte, Showtime was automatically included as a part of two legacy packages Spectrum Silver and Spectrum Gold. Everybody automatically got Showtime as part of those legacy plans.

    As CATV programing costs rose, all providers began to offer those premium channels Ala-carte. Showtime is now a part of Paramount+ so Paramount+ said, "Let's add a little spice to the deal by giving back Showtime to those Spectrum subs who still are on legacy Silver and legacy Gold plans who sign up with Paramount+ Essentials through Spectrum." Both sides agreed.

    The question is, "Well, why didn't or wouldn't Paramount+ offer Showtime to every customer on a current package as well, such as Spectrum Select Signature or Spectrum Select+?" This is because Showtime is still a premium channel at $10.00 a month, and Paramount+ said, "Well, if we included Showtime to every Spectrum Select CATV subscriber, we would make no money from Spectrum, because we would be giving away a premium channel for free to every singe Spectrum CATV subscriber." CATV subs who have current Spectrum Select Signature or Spectrum Select+ can't go back to Spectrum Silver or Spectrum Gold because those codes are no longer in the system. Spectrum Silver and Spectrum Gold are legacy, grandfathered plans.

    This was Paramount+'s decision, not Spectrum's, (As Paramount owns Showtime) I hope this clears up the confusion.

    I had the same issue but was beginning to think that I was the only Spectum user who thought the email was the most misleading email I've ever read. I ended up talking to two Spectum customer service reps who weren't able to clarify what the email was saying. I will send all future Spectrum sales emails to my spam folder. And that includes the daily wireless emails since they are just as confusing. Thank you, ThreeBells.
