Why does the Spectrum app on my AppleTV keep my forgetting favorites and recently watched?

This KEEPS happening and it's very frustrating. The recently watched issue has been going on for a very long time months. The app forgetting my Favorites is new. I can see my favorites on other devices. I have deleted the app and reinstalled, restarted the device. I've also re-setup my ALL favorites again only for them to not be saved. SO ANNOYING.

And the audio gets out of sync with the video. To fix this I have to close the app and reopen it. This happens frequently

    Hello and Welcome,

Since have already done the uninstall and reinstall of the app, I would check for Apple TV updates, and than reboot your equipment.

You have posted that your Apple TV is a first generation system. I just did a Google Search:

    Apple TV Generations:

    HD- October 30, 2015

    1st Generation- September 12, 2017

    2nd Generation- May 21, 2021

    3rd Generation- November 4, 2022

The big companies like Apple and Samsung that do the TV's, provide updates for about three years. After that, due to the advances in technology, they stop. It's not quite as longstanding as Microsoft Windows, which provides a minimum of ten years of support after a release date. Apple's turnover for new versions is 3-4 years tops.

The problem is that your Apple TV probably stopped getting support sometime new the middle to end of 2021 being a first generation set. The issue along with that is these companies are always evolving with new technologies for the apps. They do a "best fit." After about four years though (end of first generation support around 2021 for Apple TV's) they can't guarantee that the older generation TV's will work with app updates. Due to this issue, to stop the frustration, and to be more compatible with the app updates. you will probably need a new Apple TV.

I hate having to say this and I have personally been petitioning streaming services to provide a minimum of five years of support for app updates! But most seem insistent on not going past three years. Even four years, by Apple standards is a stretch,

Unfortunately, I think you are going to need to purchase a new Apple TV.

Here are some third generation Apple TV's from Amazon:

The OS (tvOS18.0) IS the latest version.

and my AppleTV 4K (first version), which was only discontinued in 2021. It is supported by both Spectrum and Apple.

Perhaps you should only answer questions that you actually know something about. :(

Thank your this information! I did not know that Apple still supported first generation sets. In this case, Spectrum should definitely open up a ticket as to why Favorites and Recently Watched channels keep vanishing.

Just to clarify, the AppleTV 4K is not the same as the earlier, non-4K models. You can see the variety of models, features, release dates, here: AppleTVs
