Spectrum DVR model 210-A

I have the newest DVR that Spectrum offers. I set up a recording for a program that normally airs on Wednesdays from 7 PM to 9 PM local time. However, there was a disruption in the network's schedule so the program was delayed until 8 PM. This DVR still recorded from 7 to 9 PM, forcing me to miss an hour of the program, although the older Spectrum DVR in another room correctly recorded from 8 - 10 PM. Why doesn't the newer model 210-A perform at least as good as the older model? Why create a DVR that doesn't adjust to changes in scheduling times?

    Welcome!

Different DVR's run different cable guide software, so some might (with the operative word being might) adjust for programing start times and others will not. Traditionally, if the broadcast network moves the program to a later time, the software might compensate or it might not. This depends on when the listing data from the guide gets updated. If the update gets synchronized in time, the DVR will make the adjustment, if not, the program will be missed. There are several factors involved:

Gracenote-Neilson is the company along with some other Internet listing services that does the listings for the guides. A last minute program change will not be picked up in time. The same is true if the title of the program is changed by the listing provider. For example, if you set your DVR to record "The World of Life." and the guide listings update, and the new title is now called "World of Life" that program "A World of Life" will not record no matter what

Additionally, if a network chooses to run different program in the place of the information in the guide, (Such as a Special Report,) you will get that Special Report recorded in place of the original programing. Your best option is to find out if that missed show is available On Demand. Episodes On Demand air one to two days after the original broadcast airing.

Hey @salazone and welcome to the Spectrum Community!

We apologize for the issue you experienced with your DVR recording. I agree with Satch that a last-minute change in programming may not be acknowledged in time and some DVR's may run different guide software. However, the recordings typically follow their scheduled action. I am not sure why this happened, but if it continues, please reach out to us and we'd be happy to assist.
