Spectrum Internet Assist Requirements? New Customers Only?

Hi Everyone,

Asking for general knowledge and potentially for others inquiring about this plan. I am referring to this link below: (Spectrum Internet Assist For Low Income Households) starting at $25.00 (50MB) for qualifying households:

https://www.spectrum.com/internet/spectrum-internet-assist

1.) Is this for new customers only? If so, what is the rate after the typical 12/month period. If not, what is the rate for existing customers?

2.) Is it a requirement that seniors and low income households must stay on the plan for 12 months before paying the higher prices for higher speeds?

3.) Are there baseline household income requirements that must be met to qualify?

4.) I assume that the typical WiFi router $5.00 fee needed for wireless is not a part of this plan?

5.) Is this a federally subsidized program like the former Internet Assistant $30 billing credit program that was discontinued by the Feds last April? Or is this Spectrum's own program?

Thanks for this information!

Good morning @Satch! Thank you for your question.

1.) The internet assist offer is available to eligible households for new and existing customers adding Internet service as a new Line of Business. Meaning, Existing customers cannot have internet service already, when signing up.

2.) Customers do have the option to upgrade anytime to a higher speed package.

3.) There isn't a set baseline income requirement that we asses, however if a household participates in any of the following programs, they could qualify.

    • National School Lunch Program (NSLP); free or reduced cost lunch.
    • Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the NSLP.
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) (All Types)

On our website, there is also an eligibility tool that our customers can complete to see if they meet the requirements. Once qualified, the approval will stay with them in the event that our customer moves.

4.) That is correct. The rate for internet assist is $25.00 and Wi-Fi is available to add for an additional $10.00.

5.) The ACP program was discontinued due to lack of funding by the Federal Government. The internet assist program is something that we are offering to our customers who qualify.

As you know, we are here for you 24/7. If further information is needed, please let us know! Additionally, we appreciate you as a valued customer and an active member on our community page!

They were also offering the old internet 100 plan for former ACP participants. That was basically just an income level requirement, no government assist program eligibility requirement.

If they pull their area's rate card they may see it listed along with the 300/500/gig plans.
