Why no firmware updates to cable box in quite some time?
Box is Cisco 4724HDC. I don't remember the last time there was an update, but it's been at least several months. Is this normal?

Hello and thank you for reaching out @deedleann824!
For the cable boxes, firmware updates tend to happen pretty quietly, so to speak. For example they occur over night when our customers have the least amount of traffic. But are you seeing concerns with the services that you believe may be related to updates perhaps? Or was it just general curiosity as you've not seen any updates and such?

Just curious. I leave my TV on at night and if there's an update, the audio and video are disrupted which wakes me up. This hasn't happened in a while.

These updates are automated and happen as they are released. We are sorry for an inconvenience this may have caused.

My View,
If the functionality of the equipment is OK, you probably don't have to worry about updates. Cable Boxes, streaming boxes, modems, and routers that are rented from Spectrum, and when the hardware is not updatable anymore, Spectrum will let you know and replace the equipment. like they are doing with the free upgrade to faster modems.
There is one area of updates that are essential and that is computer updates. Those monthly occurrences help protect your machines against security threats and are important.
