Is there a way to change the TV sound quality (not volume) from my remote?
I have a UR3-SR3S remote. There's a button for changing the volume, but can the sound QUALITY be altered through this device?

Good morning @deedleann824,
I'm not quite sure what changes you're trying to make concerning the audio quality. Is this something that is a feature on your TV specifically or sound modes on an audio receiver? Device controls are fairly limited outside the cable receiver. For the receiver specifically, there are audio settings within the settings menu related to audio coding, output/range and volume control.

Good Morning @deedleann824,
What type of sound are you looking to enhance in terms of its quality? Most of the audio settings on the cable box are volume related in some way. like leveling the sound between channels and commercials. In audio settings, Normal and fixed, and auto would relate almost exclusively to volume.
Your TV remote might have enhanced audio settings to adjust bass and treble if your TV remote has those settings.
You have spoken in the past about having a smaller older set, and if money's tight, buying a soundbar would not be something that I would recommend. More advanced tech users, that even go above me, could get a 50-75 inch TV or even these huge 90" screens and they will get often a home theater system for sound enhancements. However, money, space, and age of existing equipment all play an influence here.
Unless you have bass and treble control on your TV, most of the cable audio box settings are volume stabilizing related things.

I was just wondering why some stations the sound is so clear and on others it sounds like a bad fast food drive-through intercom.
I got the TV as a used item and it doesn't have its own remote, or I could use that to make the sound clearer.

It sounds like that TV is really old. Is it even HD? It's coming back to me now that you have from my recollection a very old set. If the sound is bothersome, that old TV I will bet is the culprit! And if it's only SD, you are not doing justice to the beauty and quality of an HD experience.
If you get a new HDTV, you will need an HDMI cable. They go for about $10-$15 at Amazon
Have a look at some HD Samsung TV's at Amazon here:
Hisense is another brand that is also great (and cheaper than Samsung!) Have a look here:
You will need an HDMI cable for your set. Even if your existing TV is HD, I would recommend a newer HDMI cable. They are at Amazon as well:
We can help set up your remote for cable if you get a new TV.

Someone gave me their old flat screen TV. It's an Emerson LC320EM1F, but I don't know how to program the my remote. I looked at online instructions, but found them confusing and if I do something wrong, I wont have any TV.

Good Morning @deedleann824 ,
I found the manual for your TV online here using the model number you provided. It's HD so that's good. Here is link to the replacement remote that you will need for your Emerson TV, You can get it at Amazon:
The second link is the Table of Contents owner's manual for @deedleann824 's TV
Good news, your TV has a Sound Equalizer! Again you will need to get the replacement Emerson TV remote from Amazon in order to adjust sound settings. (First link above)
Due to the fact that this is not a Spectrum related product, try this at your own risk. You won't break the TV, but this might fix your sound problems:
The instructions refer to the figures below:
1.) Before changing your sound settings have your TV remote (not Spectrum remote) with fresh batteries installed and ready to use.
2.) Check to make sure your location is set to "Home" (Not Retail) as indicated in the picture below using the Emerson TV remote:
There are several steps next to get to the sound Equalizer, I will summarize them for you:
1.) Exit out of all menus on the Emerson remote. (Make sure you set your location above to "Home" and not "Retail" so your settings will be saved.) Do the Location step above with the remote. If it is already set to Home, you can go to the sound equalizer settings.
2.) Go to one of the poor sounding channels, (Using your Spectrum remote.)
3.) Press Menu on the Emerson TV remote.
4.) Use the arrow keys to select "sound" and press OK.
5.) Select the Arrow Keys to go to "Personal" and look at the equalizer below:
Moving the level closer to the top, increases the type of sound. Moving the level closer to the bottom, decreases the type of sound
Going from Left to Right:
1.) First lever- controls extreme bass. High level bass sounds. (makes sounds thicker and richer.)
2.) Second lever- Controls mid-bass sounds. (Mid level bass sounds.) (Slightly less bass.)
3.) Third lever- Is a balance control for the speakers. (Most people keep this in the middle.)
4.) Fourth lever- Controls Mid Treble Sounds. ( Mid level treble sounds. Clearer and sharper sounds.)
5.) Fifth Lever-Controls Extreme Treble Sounds. (Clearer extreme sharper sounds)
Use left and right arrows to select the lever you want to adjust and than use the up/down lever to adjust that lever's sound.
6.) Press OK to save changes
7.) Press Menu to Exit
If these steps do not help, use my first Amazon links above in the earlier post to consider seriously ordering a new TV.

Thanks, Satch. I do have the remote to the Emerson. I didn't mean for it to sound like I didn't.
It's the old CRT that doesn't have a remote for that particular TV other than the cable receiver remote.
I may fool around later and see if the Emerson has better sound of if it's just an old lady's hearing starting to go.

You can do what I do as I am hearing impaired and so is someone else who lives with me.
Enable closed captioning on your box. It is most helpful. Go to Settings, Closed Captioning.
