Why is Xumo -> Spectrum TV app audio only 2.0 for cable channels which are 5.1 via "cable"?

I just recently stopped using Windows Media Center (i.e. cablecard, tuning adapters, Win7 HTPC, Ceton PCIe 6-tuner card) as my whole-home DVR mechanism. I've been using it for 15 years to feed cable TV to the three LG OLED UHD TVs around my home.

I've now replaced WMC and local DVR storage with three Xumo devices at those same TVs, and with my TV service now delivered through the Spectrum TV app running on the Xumo. I also subscribed to CloudDVR Unlimited service to replace the local disk storage provided by my WMC HTPC.

Overall I'm quite satisfied with the changeover. Actually, I'm VERY satisfied at least with the video quality.

But I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the 2.0 audio being delivered for all the cable channels that previously were arriving as 5.1 through ordinary coax-delivered linear cable feeding my WMC HTPC system. I have invested lots of money in a high-end A/V system including multiple surround speakers, and have expected this to be what I hear when watching cable TV channels.

Unfortunately ALL CABLE AND LOCAL OTA CHANNELS ARE PROVIDED AS 2.0 WITH THE SPECTRUM TV APP!! Why are they not the "regular" 5.1 audio which is how they arrive through coax linear cable TV? Why in the world is the audio downmixed to 2.0 stereo by Spectrum for delivery through Spectrum TV app and high-speed internet???

I'm not talking about other non-cable streaming apps via Xumo (e.g. Netflix), which are provided as multi-channel audio. I'm talking about ordinary regular cable TV channels delivered through the Spectrum TV app, and which are awful 2.0 stereo.

My feedback is that this is a TERRIBLE DECISION!!! It is an insult to your customers to apply headend processing that causes 5.1 audio to be made inferior and downmixed to 2.0 stereo.

PLEASE CHANGE THIS!!! As with the video, just leave the audio you deliver for cable channels via Spectrum TV app exactly untouched and identical to how the audio and video is delivered to linear cable subscribers who watch Spectrum TV through local/in-home hardware STB/DVR boxes or WMC HTPC or Tivo, provided through coax.

2.0 audio is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello! I do apologize for the delay in reply for your post. The community forums are mostly a peer to peer support page so moderators do not always reply to posts.

Here in customer service we do not have control over the features of the app but we can definitely send up your feedback for you to see if improvements can be made in the future. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
