Spectrum Guide Bug: Extra End Time Ignored, But Only When Recording Back to Back Series Episodes
Hello All!
Spectrum Guide is now really good! Probably about 95% reliable. There is that little 5% that you might notice. I will describe the problem and also give a workaround.
If you are recording two episodes on a series numerically back to back and you add end time to the first episode in the recorded series, the Spectrum Guide ignores the end time here's an example:
Suppose a users records two back to back episodes of a TV series. Note, this does not mean recording all episodes by setting up a recording as a series, this is just two back to back series episodes.
1.) Let's say a series episode #5 is set to record from 1:00- 1:30 and series episode #6 of the same series is set to record from 1:30-2:00
2.) A user adds end time to series episode #5 going from 1:00-1:35.
3.) The user records series episode #6 from 1:30-2:05.
Assume no conflicts and only one tuner is busy. The new boxes have four tuners anyway.
4.) What happens is when played back episode #5 will end at 1:30, ignoring the five minute extended end time.
5.) Episode 6 will add the extended end time normally without issues.
Workaround: If you have this issue, add one minute of early start time to the second successive episode in the series. you recorded. The one minute early start time for the second episode will pick up the one minute of the previous episode that was missed.
Important Notes:
1.) Movies, Sports, and Series who's episodes are not recorded one after the other are not affected by this glitch at all.
2.) This is a mild Spectrum Guide design flaw and is not a box issue. Not a big deal, but I am providing this tip to help prevent cut offs of episodes if people set up two back to back series records in this way.
