Adding Boxes with CloudDVR+

GooseGoose Posts: 10 ✭✭

Before I venture into a store or on the phone I wanted to see if anyone else has done this yet.

Currently have Triple Play (Internet Ultra, Phone, Silver) with cloud DVR+ all running on Apple TVs. Before I go and buy another Apple TV for another room, is it possible to get a HD Box or DVR, and still keep Cloud DVR+? I've run into problems in the past that the FAQs say yes yet phone or store reps insist they had to remove Cloud DVR when I upgraded from the streaming plans to a normal plan with a box.

You should change this. It is unfair not to offer cloud dvr service to regular users. The DVR doesn't have enough space to begin with and if your box goes bad you lose everything you put on it. This has happened to me twice already and I can't get the content I had back at all.

This inability for the two services to coexist needs to be fixed ASAP! I don't want 3 DVR boxes but I would like to have 1 DVR box and continue using cloud DVR on my other two TVs. Both services have serious drawbacks - together they could each compensate to some extent for the other's flaws.

James_M Not true, I specifically asked about Cloud DVR PLUS, which is only available with Silver or above.

    Apologies @Goose

I do see that eligibility requirements recently changed. Because the team does not handle sales we did not notice the change. I apologize for that. I am actually seeing that existing Cloud DVR or Cloud DVR Plus customers will be able to keep using cloud-based recording after upgrading to Spectrum Select TV service. However, Cloud DVR customers will need to migrate to Cloud DVR Plus. TV Select/Silver/Gold and Mi Plan Latino require a Spectrum purchased Apple TV device and are eligible to add on a Spectrum DVR

@Julia_R In your note above your last line ends with "... and are eligible to add on a Spectrum DVR."

This implies that one could have both Cloud DVR and a Spectrum DVR box on the same account if you subscribe to one of these services (which I do).

This seems to conflict with earlier statements by James_M here and elsewhere. What is the official position on having both cloud and a conventional DVR box? (This would be highly desirable due to the many idiosyncrasies in the cDVR service.) Thanks!

@Julia_R care to link to the page that says in order to keep cDVR Plus we have to buy the Apple TV from spectrum? Since both stores and phone will not and do not hand out Apple TV’s after you’ve already established service. You can only get them if you order them with the streaming package at time of order. Why does where I’ve sourced the Apple TV even matter? Your “used” Apple TV I bet I won’t be able to buy Apple Care on it because it is outside the original Apple warranty.

    Good morning @Goose

We do not sell used Apple TVs, they are all new in the box. If you would like to further discuss how the sale of the Apple TV would be handled, adding or subtracting services, we encourage you to phone in to speak with one of our specialists. 1-855-70-SPECTRUM. They can go over your account and the specific rules that would apply.

@JVJ83 There are different rules on Cloud DVR, DVR+ and Traditional DVR equipment being added to an account. It depends on what services you started with, and if you are upgrading the package you have. To go over your specific account and what the possibilities are we would ask that you speak with a specialist.
