When my NordVPN is connected, email messages stay in my Outbox and never reach Sent

I can't send out email from my Outlook 365 desktop client unless I, first, disconnect Nord VPN. When the NordVPN is connected, messages go to the Outbox, but never get sent out.

What can I do to fix this? A Microsoft Tech has suggested that Spectrum has designed its email system to stop messages from being sent out through a connected VPN. Is this true?

As info, Outlook 365 has no trouble receiving email when the VPN is connected.

As info: the charter.net account has been set up as IMAP.

Thanks for everyone's help. Chuck

Good afternoon and thanks for the great question. I am afraid the rep you spoke with is incorrect. We do not limit your access to our servers. However, VPNs themselves do. When you are inside a VPN its as if you are inside their company network and they set up security parameters. It sounds to me like Norton has not verified the email servers you are trying to access. You could give them a call with your inbound/outbound email server information and see if they can add that to a whitelist of sorts with their firewall.

If anyone else has any ideas, please speak up.

    Randy
