I was using IVPN last week with no problems. My mobile provider (not Spectrum) still works. Spectrum does not. Here is the trace route. I called and chat with Spectrum support, but they are not helping.

$ tracert ivpn.net

Tracing route to ivpn.net [198.50.177.216]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

 1   2 ms   2 ms   2 ms 192.168.1.1

 2  21 ms  10 ms  10 ms 142-254-237-229.inf.spectrum.com [142.254.237.229]

After this it fails.

The traceroute’s not stalling, per se, after hop/router #15. It’s just that all of IVPN’s carrier’s routers beyond that aren’t responding to ICMP response requests, which, just like 11—13, is not uncommon and you’re not able to reach the IVPN destination IP address in 64 hops. That IVPN destination IP address along with routers 10 & 14 & 15 and, thus, most likely everything from 10 to the destination, are all OVH Hosting, Inc. ASN AS16276 to which you’re reaching via Charter Spectrum’s network fine. Just curious how many hops it takes to reach that IVPN destination IP address via your "mobile provider" (laptop connected to mobile device hotspot connected to mobile network.)

If the only problem you’re having with that VPN IP address has to do with sending email, you might have to wait for it to cool off enough to cycle back out of spam tsunami blacklist territory. It’s on at least a few of them and not all carriers use the same ones. Otherwise just curious if you’re unable to do anything at all with it.

This is not an email problem. I can't even use a browser to see the ivpn.net web pages.

And, I would suggest that ivpn.net should not be put on a blacklist. Does this happen to NordVPN or Norton? They are all in the same business.

    Good morning @IMccullough

Welcome to the Community! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing connectivity issues with your VPN. If you are wireless I would advise bypassing your router and testing the connection to rule out the router as an issue. Please also try a reboot of all equipment.

Here is what I have already done:

    1. reboot router, and everything else is normal.
    2. Verified my laptop firewall was paused, everything else is normal.
    3. bypass the router using a different Mobile provider on my phone. It works normally. I can see IVPN.net web pages on my phone over that Mobile provider.
    4. download VPN configuration over my phone and use Wireguard VPN client directly (using different IP address). That works.

But when I try to open ivpn.net web page through Spectrum, still won't work.

Thank you for that information. Can you clarify the device that you trying to use? Were you able to hardwire the device directly to the modem?

I have a HP laptop running Windows 10, using WiFi connection. I have not tried to bypass WiFi and connect to router or directly to modem with network cable. Will try that later today.

Here is a trace route that works. (Running through a VPN server in Canada.)

    $ tracert ivpn.net

    Tracing route to ivpn.net [198.50.177.216]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

     1  81 ms  85 ms  86 ms 172.16.0.1

     2  81 ms  80 ms  85 ms vlan106.as02.qc1.ca.m247.com [87.101.92.25]

     3  112 ms  168 ms  124 ms 37.120.128.168

     4  81 ms  91 ms  81 ms te-1-5-2-0.bb1.fra2.de.m247.com [82.102.29.44]

     5   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     6   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     7   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     8   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     9  87 ms  149 ms  83 ms be106.bhs-g1-nc5.qc.ca [142.44.208.173]

     10   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     11   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     12   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     13   *    *    *   Request timed out.

     14  132 ms  83 ms  105 ms ip216.ip-198-50-177.net [198.50.177.216]

    Trace complete.

Very enterprising and good sense of humor, too 🤣‼️ But, yeah, i take it you'll be switching to something like you said like Nard or Norton. Good luck, man. Over and out.

Actually no. I stopped using NordVPN and Norton, and switched to IVPN instead. And I still think Spectrum should allow a browser to see website at ivpn.net..

@IMccullough Were you able to do the bypass and connect the computer directly to the modem? When doing so, you want to be sure to reboot your modem and router with the new connection. Then try the traceroute again. If you need further assistance, please let us know.

My bad. I thought you were talking about one of their VPN servers. Charter Spectrum isn’t blocking the ivpn.net (198.50.177.216) website. Not at all for me, anyway. It comes right up (despite the fact that i get the same traceroute results as you do)! What browser are you using and what fault indications are you getting when you try to go to ipvn.net?

You appear to be making it through the exchange point to get off of the charter/spectrum networks... so the problem appears to be happening on the other side of that peering arrangement (ie: the problem may be on someone else's perimeter network device or routing protocols).

This is demonstrated when you altered your routing via another VPN and ran the trace, causing a significant shift in third party next hop selections. Looks like it sent you to a hop assigned to Nevada instead of Illinois.

Should also note the ASN mentioned earlier (AS16276) is for IVPN.net.

So it appears you are making it into their "cloud", but something is going sideways on their end.
