Slow Buffering ... No Pause Rewind FF on Live TV

I am one of the many experiencing a continual "slow down" in which buffering on any function, i.e., pause, playback, fast forward, change channels, etc. slows UNTIL it finally "freezes." My only options seems to be, unplug the Xumo box for about a minute and replug, then reboot. This was never an issue with DirectTV. Furthermore, I am grieved over the fact that I cannot pause, rewind, and fast forward live programs, which again I could do with DirectTV. Finally, when I DO rewind or fast forward recorded programs, the screen shot is frozen so I have to guess how far to hold the rewind or fast forward button. Again, not the case with DirectTV.

If a Xumo box isn't doing the job for you you could possibly try to get a apple tv from spectrum, they do offer installments on them, they tend to work a bit better than the xumo boxes. Plus if you have a apple device such as an Iphone you can easily cast to the apple tv, as far as i remember the screenshot had no issue with updating on the apple tv, it just does not have the issues the xumo box has. Otherwise you can try to troubleshoot more, perhaps by going into the settings and doing a reset of the xumo box.

    Hi @MoosePinx,

I have the "slow down issue also and posted about it months ago. I've found an easier way to reboot. Use the wheel button on the Xumo remote to go to settings. Go to System Management, then Resets and Updates. Right button to select Restart Device and select it. Your device should reboot then.

    Welcome to the forums!

Pausing live TV as well as fast Forward rewind options have been added. I would unplug the XUMO for several minutes. Allow it to reboot. You might not have the pause live TV/RW/FF preview window yet, but it is coming soon. for all XUMO devices.

YES! YES! My system HAS been updated and now I CAN Pause, Rewind, Fast-Forward LIVE TV. While it may be a bit early to tell, it seems that the slow buffering issue has been addressed as well. I am very thankful that Spectrum has successfully addressed this issue, and, at this point I am a VERY satisfied customer. 😎

Any programing that is in your TV package should have its On Demand Channel included for free. Some of movies not part of a TV Package Plan are not free. This should be indicated clearly in the guide.

Note that neither Spectrum, nor any other TV vendor has control over programing. That is in the hands of the station owners and network management. Spectrum only provides the equipment, signals, and cable wiring, for transmission. For programing and commercials, the stations can do what they want. In fact, in order to have on Demand access, the stations can mandate that Spectrum, or any other vendor, must provide commercials and even sometimes disable fast-forward content as a condition for Spectrum to carry the On Demand content.

Other than channels like Turner Classic Movies (TCM) the only other way to bypass commercials is to subscribe to a premium channel.
