I am missing 3 or 4 channels.
Called Spectrum and have been missing Bravo, FX, Discovery and one other I forgot. They had me install a new box and still have the same problem. I have done all the rebooting and cable checks to no avail. Tech came out and couldn’t figure it out. He thinks it may be a cable. The cable in our house goes through several rooms and in then into the attic. If it’s wiring wouldn’t it affect all the other channels which have a perfect picture. There is one room where the cable is behind cluttered furniture etc. which couldn’t be move when the tech was here. Any answers? Hard to believe it’s a wiring issue when all the other channels work fine. Could it be something at Spectrum transmission to the house?

Hello,
This is a cable wiring problem or line issue. It's not your box. You need follow up service call for this. If your lines are old, you can have only a small number of channels with problems. If you have old wiring, tech needs to replace that. Inside and outside.
Signal Splitters can also hurt signal strength by up to ninety percent. Splitters should be removed. The attic, basement, and that area behind the cluttered furniture needs to be checked. You really need to get someone out to move that furniture to check all entry points and exit points, These include:
1.) Outside drop line.
2.) Inside wiring.
3.) Basement and attic cable entry/exit points.
4.) Removal of all splitters.
When you call Spectrum mention that you want this to be a follow up appointment, but move that furniture first. Or have someone do that.
Five years ago, our cable had to be completely rewired because our DVR was missing recordings, and there were about four channels that did not come in or were pixilated. This won't be solved with a box swap. Our tech did a whole house rewiring. Solved everything.

Satch, thanks for your reply and input. I’m just curious though if it’s a bad wire or splitter why do all the other channels come in perfectly clear and the Internet speed is good . There is a splitter required to hook into the router/modem in the Spectrum bundle. Could it be a Spectrum transmission issue?

Good Morning @Bravo_57!
A bad wire entry or exit point from bad signals or your drop line can affect as little as a couple of channels. Years ago like once a week, or local CBS would come in for maybe a week, had to reboot the box to get it back, and it would be out again within a week. The other channel was one of the Fox stations, and we would have to do the same thing. All other channels were great!
Than, we would get pixilation from time to time and missed DVR recordings on CBS. We often did not record the Fox station. Tech comes out, checks out our line drop and it so happened that one of the lines that was in the house, or coming in to the house was thirty years old!. He put in a new drop and had to replace that wire. It was like under the house, so he had to like crawl and shimmy under our patio deck to get to the line that needed to be replaced. Been with cable for forty years. Whenever I hear of attic or basement wiring, and old splitters as part of an install, and sub can't remember when they were checked, and they are having issues, with even only a few channels, I say, "Call your provider for a signal and drop line test and also to check your attic/basement wiring entry/exit points
You could also request a mod to set up a follow up service call and they will key it in the work order as a "follow up." Through this process, you should get a more thorough tech. Sometimes it can take 2-3 service calls to get to the crux of a problem like this.
While you can try rebooting your box and modem. (Turning everything off and than plugging them back in) to see if the issue persists, the picture on those channels might come back. But, it could go out again in anywhere from four days to two weeks, if there is ingress (interference) in one of your lines. This ingress is often due to aging or weathering. You should get somebody to move that furniture and unclutter any areas in your basement or attic before the tech comes so that he/she can get to your wiring.
Oh yea, and tune to one of the bad channels before the tech gets there.
