dear spectrum

my mother is 84 years old. she remembers a simpler time in television watching and refuses to learn from new technology associated with current television practices. her favorite past time is day or night flipping endlessly through channels in the eternal hope of finding the accidental scandalous sex scene or murder and mayhem. the problem she is having is that while flipping through channels she stumbles or gets stuck on every channel page we do not subscribe to, pages that ask for a parental control pin, pages for on demand movies or pages to upgrade with a brand new channel. is there any way to remove these unnecessary channel pages from her channel flipping line up?

thank you in advance for your reply but please do not reply with any suggestion that isn’t removing these unnecessary channel pages from the line up and her sight

    Good evening @Ede_Lu

Thank you for reaching out to us about removing channels that you are not currently subscribed too from your box. At this time there is not way to do this. However, you can set up a "favorites" list. This will allow you to create a list of channels that you want to view and can eliminate any channels that you do not want to see. Please let us know if you have any other questions. - Lyn

No. Not in the absolute sense. If you've a mind to hear about ♥️'s line-up filtering and the possibility of being able to surf nothing but ♥️'s one button push at a time, feel free to share which Spectrum TV platform you're dealing with and, if applicable, the make and model of the set-top box and whether the remote for it has a ♥️ i.e. "FAV" button, and what you mean by "channel pages."

Excellent suggestions by @Lyn_T and @HT_Greenfield!

I would also recommend setting up the Guide to show only Favorite Channels for her This YouTube Video will show how to create a Favorite Channels List on the Spectrum Guide:

To view only Favorite channels in the guide:

To view only favorite channels on Spectrum Guide, first ensure you've marked channels as favorites. Then, access the Guide, press the Options or "A" button, and select "Filter Channels" followed by "Favorites". This will display only your favorite channels in the guide.

Sometimes that channel up/down button can still navigate to all channels even after Favorite Channels are established This can vary with the type of guide software on your box. Once a Favorites list has been established, you would have to train the customer to press the Guide button on his/her remote to see favorite channels if the channel up/down option tunes to all channels.

If this customer has a different type of on-screen guide with a cable box, or the Xumo box, please post a screenshot of your guide software being used and someone else can assist with setting up and managing Favorite Channels with that guide's software.

Is there a way to show just Favorite channels on the XUMO box? Or how about a way on XUMO to select a channel by number, like just remembering the number for History Channel, and enter it on the XUMO remote without selecting from the menu?

    Hi Steve,

    Welcome to the community!

I don't have a XUMO box but you should be able to just use the numerical keypad to enter the channel number without opening the guide, right. Just use the keypad to enter the channel you want, Here's a list of all the XUMO Spectrum remotes: (With button descriptions/)

https://www.spectrum.net/support/tv/using-and-troubleshooting-your-xumo-stream-box-remote (Information about Xumo Remotes) Button locations,) I have been asked about a last button channel recall that would take you back to the last channel watched? I find the traditional cable boxes and remotes easier to use as do a lot of people, XUMO just feels awkward,

How do I know if I have this software version? »Sometimes that channel up/down button can still navigate to all channels even after Favorite Channels are established This can vary with the type of guide software on your box.«

    Welcome to the Forums @laughingcamera!

You don't need to know the software version, Just test your Channel up.down button on your remote after you have select your Favorite channels and have also filtered them to show in the guide. If using the up/down arrows without the guide visible navigates to all channels numerically, that's your software version for that guide and box. If your up/down arrow keys go only to your favorite channels when the guide is not visible, that is your software version for your guide and box.

Traditional Guide navigation, regardless of any applied guide filters, remains to open the Time Grid, and using the directional arrow keys surrounding the OK/Sel center button. B button on older remote guides brings up keyboard search, or Menu brings up the navigation menu. Search button on new remotes, brings up keyboard search. Options Menu on new remotes brings up guide options as well as "A" button on older remotes.
