why does my streaming shut off once in a while and then stay powered off

Hello and welcome to the Spectrum Community!
I do apologize for the issues you are having with the streaming. Do you see the issue with just the Spectrum TV app on the Xumo or other apps as well?

If by "once in a while" you mean eight hours of user inactivity, you can presumably wake it back up on the fly with the Home button.
