Is this legit?

I recently got an email supposedly from Spectrum that says that my old email account is not linked to an active Spectrum account

But here are the problems:

  1. My email IS linked to my current Spectrum account (emails that have .com unredacted is the email account in question)
  2. I have another email account created at the same time as the one I received this email in that has not gotten this email and is NOT linked to my current Spectrum account.

    I take it that having the email address set up and verified as a contact form of communication is one thing whereas "linked" is referring to what if any prevailing Internet service subscription account the email service is being provided for.

    If you log on to your account at spectrum.net with the subject primary user credentials and don't find the Check Email hyperlink in the left-hand column, then it's presumably not linked and, if your subscription doesn't include Internet service, i'd trust the email message you received about it and proceed accordingly.

    My primary user credentials, which I created a little less than two years ago, are different from this email account's, which I've had for a long time. The only thing that shows up when I click check email is the emails for the email address I created a few weeks ago because it said that my account had no primary email address, even though my main email address (the one getting the email) is the one I used when I first set up my account. I even get legit Spectrum emails, such as my billing statements, in this email address.

    Also, why didn't another email address that I have that is not connected to my Spectrum account not receive this email? That's what's got me questioning if this email is legit.

    If this is legit, then how do I go about linking my email address? Because I received this same exact email towards the end of November 2025. That's when I followed the directions and linked my account, putting my info into the "People" tab under settings, even though, like I said, my email address in question if even listed as my "email address" when I click settings, right under my phone number (3rd attachment). And, like in attachment 2, my old email address is listed right under my name in the "Primary Role" area. AND, after I followed the instructions to link my email address, it appears in the first "Admin Role".

    I noticed that my question has been checked as answered. However, my question has NOT been accepted, at least not by me. What is going on?

    Do I need to do something that is left out of the directions to "properly" link my old email address? Is this email a scam? Is it legit? If it is legit, please explain in exact detail, how I link my old email address to my current service, since if it's legit, then it apparently leaves something out of the instructions. Since I already did everything it says to do.

    @JLKLVKS,

    The email you received is legitimate. In the image, it appears that email was sent on 12/23. I'm showing a profile created for your account on 12/24 which creates the necessary Spectrum ID to associate your existing email to. The email I believe you're referring to is also the recovery email for the primary ID, as well as the email used to register here. That email is one of the 2 admin profiles. The other admin profile, also with an older email address was created at the beginning of December. There is a 4th email as well under an identity created in early December, but that one is listed as inactive which would result in it being disabled.

    If you want to access any specific email account, you'll need to log in with that email as the username via spectrum.net and then use the check email option. I did see other email accounts associated with your recovery email that you have not created identities for. If you'd like to keep them, up to the limit of 5, you'll need to create an ID for them as well.

    Just to make sure I am understanding you correctly, Mo_S, what you're saying is that the email address starting with a "d" is okay? That I don't have to do anything else? That it won't get closed? That email address is the only one of my old email accounts that I need.

    Also, if I did everything right on 12/24, then why did I get an email on 12/30 saying "Final Reminder: Spectrum Email Closing in 7 Days?"

    That is correct. The email account starting with D is linked to your account properly and should stay working. The email message you are receiving is likely due to some of your older email accounts. The message was sent originally because your email was likely not tied to your account. This can happen if you moved or when account numbers was changed. The process you did on 12/24 allowed your email to be linked to the account properly so it stays active.
