IMAP email suddenly failed to sign in

Yesterday, out of the blue, one of my IMAP email addresses started to require me to re-enter my credentials. I cannot access the email in question from my Google Pixel phone via Gmail, or, from Thunderbird. I've tried readding the email on both platforms, but, it fails with incorrect credentials. However, using the same credentials, I am able to access the email account from Spectrum.net.

I've been in contact with Spectrum support 5 times in the last 24 hours. At one point, they were elevating my call to a tech. During the last call, they completely washed their hands of the problem and said it was a Gmail or Thunderbird problem. I should also note that I have two other IMAP email addresses that do not have this problem.

Can someone help with this?

    Hello @baradanikto;

    I do apologize that your email has stopped working in IMAP. I would recommend you check your mail settings to make sure they are correct. Some of our older servers may no longer work. You can find the settings by visiting the following site. https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/mobile-email-setup You may also want to reset the password to the account even if it works on spectrum.net. This will flow the password to all our systems incase it has been corrupted in one of the systems.

    Thanks for your reply. However, after several calls with support, those settings have been pretty well scrutinized. I'll give your password suggestion a try.

    @Edward_T and any other user that comes across this post. I could not convince Spectrum phone support that the problem was internal to their system. Thanks to Edward_T's suggestion, I was able to restore my email access. My guess is that the Spectrum email system is iterating through email addresses and disabling them for some reason. I'm not sure if this is significant, but, when I reset my password, I used a smaller length (15 characters) password. I seem to remember a Spectrum document that stated passwords should be 8 to 16 characters. Either way, the reset worked on all my platforms (Gmail and Thunderbird).

    As an aside, this morning, one of my other email addresses started with the same request to sign in with my credentials. I used the same above procedure and was able to regain access to that email.
