Do I have the same channels using xumo stream box compared to set top box?
An email from spectrum stated that my service would be upgraded so that I could watch a local opening day game baseball game on channel 233. However I cannot get chanel 233 using my ipad or with the xumo box. help desk said it would cost me $5.00/month extra because I have a xumo box but if i had a set top box this channel is free. WHY??
- I was told I would have identical access to channels using xumo or set top box .
- I received an email from spectrum stating they would automatically upgrade my service without mentioning a fee.

Good Evening @cehb and welcome to the Community!
The moderators I am sure will look at this. What is channel 233 in your area? The channels you get via the guide should be the same on a cable box or a XUMO streaming boxing. What is your service package level with Spectrum? Do you have any add-ons in your package like Entertainment View? If it's on the Spectrum Guide cable box, it should be on the XUMO streaming box. There are two possibilities here:
1.) If you are trying to get channel 233 through the streaming apps list instead of on the cable guide through XUMO (going to the APPS instead of going to the guide) there might be a charge for that, but I don't think there should be, If you subscribe to the package level on which that channel is carried, you should be getting that channel on all your equipment.
2.) Is this a new box install? New equipment installs can take up to 48 hours to sync with Spectrum's servers and mobile devices, as well as online programing.
The mods will have to check your account and see what package level and add-on plans you have.

All i can figure is that there is at least one low-ball TV package that you could only have without a set-top box, that the subject channel wouldn't be included with, i.e. TV Stream, regardless of what you stream with as in Xumo or not, and then, furthermore, if, for example, you're talking about the Cardinals, then you might find it on 362 as well as, or instead of, 233, as an add-on for however many more beans a month.

Exactly right @HT_Greenfield
The TV Stream package is the only one that does not require a Set Top Box. I have begun researching this, and yes, it looks like that is going to be a channel for the Saint Lewis Cardinals in markets that carry that team. Note that the team owners and managers may pull distribution of any games off of their devices, and no provider has any control over that. Spectrum provides the equipment, the signals, and the lines. But all programing resides with the broadcasters and even MLB.
Let me also add what I know. Fan Duel Sports Network (the old Bally Sports) which used to be that channel, some teams are starting their own channel for their teams, rather than having an affiliation with FDSN.
FDSN is offered on legacy Spectrum Select package plans. The newer package plans require a package level service of Spectrum Select Plus in order to get Fan Duel Sports Network. If you don't have a legacy plan already and IF the new management deal for the teams to require Spectrum Select Plus to get that channel, than users would have to get Spectrum Select Plus to get that channel. (Spectrum Select Plus is everything in the Spectrum Select Signature Package Plus an additional ten sports channels.)
if users don't have or don't want the Spectrum Select Plus package, and you want to watch your local baseball teams on the Spectrum Stream app alone, it sounds like that would be a small additional monthly fee.
Because of sports teams having the most expensive programing for any provider, most sports channels are not broadcast at the standard service level. Except maybe the very basics like ESPN.

Hey @cehb,
Welcome to our community page and thank you for bringing this to our attention! I apologize for any confusion this has caused. The SpectrumTV app in the Xumo will carry all of the channels you are subscribed to, while it is connected within the home. If you were to take the Xumo box out of the home, to a friend/ family's house, some channels will not be available through the app.
In regard to the account and $5.00 charge, I was able to successfully locate your account using the information provided during the registration process. I can confirm that you have already reached out regarding this concern, and the particular channel- 233, is currently available and I am showing you are subscribed. In an effort to further investigate this issue, can you possibly share more details on what you are seeing or experiencing with your iPad and Xumo box, when you try to access that channel?
