Password Change - Use of Special Characters

I just attempted to change the password for my email account.  The instructions provided says the password may contain the following special characters (!@#$_-]*); however, I got an error message saying the password has to be alpha-numeric.  Further attempts using the allowed special characters said the new password contained invalid characters.

Thank you.
