Why are the apps so limited on the Xumo system?

The Spectrum Xumo app is relatively worthless because I need other apps than what are given on the Xumo. The Roku allows me versatility in the apps that I use. Now that I have the Spectrum Xumo I have to find a way to watch other apps that I use. So I have to now go buy a Roku to make up for what is missing on the Xumo. Very disappointed.
