I notice some of the emails I put in the spam folder disappear. Where do they go?

I also receive a great deal of spam. I think I am being careful about what I click on or allow my email address to go to. Yet the same email appears again and again. Even those with legitimate addresses. Why? Please help.

Messages in the spam folder are presumably automatically permanently deleted after 14 days.
