Does anyone else experience excessively loud volume on commercials? My TV is set up so the volume stays the same but on commercials the volume is so loud that I have to turn it down then turn it up when the program I am watching comes back on. Very ANNOYING!

Spectrum said to reset my XUMO box for 30 seconds but that didn't work. Another spectrum tech said to reboot everything. I asked if I had to do this every time and they said yes….so ANNOYING!

    Good Evening,

Whoever said, "You have to reboot every time" does not know what they are talking about. You're treating the symptom not curing the problem. Not to mention, excessive rebooting can be hard on equipment. Stop doing that.

I have a Samsung TV, but a regular DVR, not an XUMO.

On your Xumo, go to Audio and Sound settings, try looking for an audio level option and turn on that setting. If you have your Xumo audio set to an external sound system, see if turning off the built in speakers, or turning off any amplify settings makes a difference. You might have to play around with these settings to test.

Try turning off any sound enhancements in your Xumo audio settings to see if that makes a difference.

For my TV which is a brand new Samsung Smart TV, my sound through the internal speakers only was originally too low. I went to audio settings and turned on sound amplify and sound leveling.

In your case, you want to have sound leveling turned on for the XUMO and turn off all other special audio enhancements.

When you decide on settings that work, write them down, title them, and save them to your PC or device, so that you remember how they are supposed to be set for your preferences. Save that list and print it out, keeping that in a safe place.
