TV app not loading

Now the TV app won't load on my Apple TV at startup. It will quickly flash the Spectrum logo and the dial, then go to a black screen. I have to force quit it and load it from the home screen. If I turn off the TV with a different app active, that app will load at startup properly; only Spectrum's refuses to work. It does keep my guide settings now, but still doesn't keep my startup channel preferences.

I've tried all the fixes: delete and reinstall the app; restart Apple TV; turn off and reboot the modem and router; update the router firmware. Nothing helps.

The iOS and iPadOS versions work fine—keep all my preferences and load with no problem. But not the tvOS version. Why?

Spectrum TV app 3.9 on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation), running tvOS 18.1, Ethernet connection.

    I take it that deleting the app also deletes the storage cache thereof, i.e. settings and preferences are gone upon reinstallation. So just curious if the idiosyncrasies you're experiencing happen with the app "connected" to the Apple TV app or not or either way:

    @HT_Greenfield If I delete the app, I do have to reset my guide sorting, but I don't lose my favorites. It won't keep my startup channel prefs no matter what. Every time I turn on the TV, those prefs are gone. And no, connecting the app to the Apple TV in tvOS settings doesn't make any difference—I tried that.

    The main problem—as I said above—is that the app won't load now when I turn on the TV. The Apple TV automatically loads the last app that was active when it was turned off. Previous versions of the Spectrum app loaded fine (with the occasional "Check network connection" message popping up). This current version just sits at a black screen. (Read my description above.) Actually, 3.8 would often stall at the startup screen and dial. It seems to get worse with each update.

    My TV is not connecting to the network. Is the password on Spectraum tv is the same as the assess the account?

    Hi @cattardi

    The credentials that you use to log into spectrum.net are the same credentials you'll use to access the Spectrum TV app. However, if your TV is not connecting to your wireless network you may need to troubleshoot the internet connection. I would advise starting with a reboot of your modem and router by unplugging it from the power for 30 seconds then plugging it back in.
