Captions are normally 2 or 3 lines high. What makes them about 20 lines high?
This occurs on the TV with DVR box. Most of the image is blacked out. The problem is not on all channels. The main news channels do not have the problem except for some commercials. In last couple days, the problem started on TCM. When I view that Spectrum channel on my computer, the captions are normal. When I view the program on the other Spectrum box and TV, the captions are normal. I've isolated the problem to the DVR cable box. Is there something in the software that needs an adjustment? Or do the programs (like the big channels) pay more to have normal captions? But that wouldn't explain the normal captions on TCM channel on my computer.

Hi @george99
Welcome! What is the make and model of your cable box? To find out this information if not sure Google Search, "What guide do I have?, Spectrum" One of the first results is a site where you enter your zip code and you will see all the guides for the boxes in your area?
Can you provide a screenshot of your captioning on TCM vs, captioning on another channel using the same box for the community to compare? I had an issue with closed captioning on my box where SD channels only cropped off the very tops of text and the lines would run together. HD channels were normal. About two months later, a software update was pushed to the guide and now all captions, regardless of whether or not the channel is in HD or SD are normal.
