home phone voicemail to text to my iPhone 16 is no longer working

Notify me by email is working; however, notify me by text message has stopped working. I have an iPhone 16 but again it was working before. Spectrum support says not their problem.

    Good afternoon and welcome @send2fox,

I see you've already been in contact concerning this issue and a ticket was created and closed out referring to the phone provider. To check, have you already fully disabled this feature and removed the number, then re-enabled it and added the number again? Have you checked to see if any incoming numbers may have been blocked inadvertently or if your messaging app has any kind of spam filtering that may catch them?

Thanks! Yes, I've done all of what you've mentioned. I have AT&T cellular service. I reset network service provider setting on the iPhone 16, etc. I've completely removed both the Notify Me by text message and email settings. I even tried adding back only the notify me by text message; however, it still does not work. Re-added the notify by email and that works each time. AT&T says that no numbers are blocked or redirected. Frustrating, it had worked since I've had the Spectrum service the past couple plus years.

Just curious if those notifications were coming in via SMS for which the from address was displayed as an arbitrary 10-digit number lacking a "+" symbol prefix, and whether you've recently disabled or blocked text-from-email messages on your cellular telephone line of service. Otherwise, what kind of notifications have they been, and, if applicable, what kind of address have they been from?

P.S.: If that notification setup involves an AT&T email-to-text gateway e.g. @txt.att.net, they are presumably in the process of shutting down the whole megillah by June 17th, obviously due to how heavily it has been exploited by spammers.

Hi! Yes, I saw the email notification is going away. I haven't used that… except of setting up for testing which is working but not very useful. Regrettably, I was deleting my text notifications on my iPhone. So, I really don't know the delivered from phone number or format of the past text messages. Nothing is blocked on VM or iPhone. Thanks for your responses.

You're welcome. I like your chances that the notifications have been text-from-email messages. If they are, then i furthermore like your chances that AT&T is now blocking them according to tighter spam-wise heuristics as they are deprecating the service entirely. Here's how you can determine if they've been text-from-email messages:

    1. Log on to your myAT&T account at 🔗 https://www.att.com/my/
    2. Hit "See usage details >" under the applicable line of service
    3. Hit the Text tab
    4. Hit "See all details"
    5. Select applicable cycle under "Select bill cycle" as needs be
    6. Find the logged entries of past such messages
    7. If they are from an email address, they were MMS text-from-email
    8. If they are from a 10-digit number and the first 3 digits are not a valid area code, then they were from a temporary arbitrary SMS 10-digit long code and were thus SMS text-from-email
    9. If they are text-from-email and such messages are still being logged but not received on the phone, then they'd likely be somehow blocked or filtered in the Messages app on the phone. Otherwise AT&T is blocking them at the text-from-email gateway either as as i speculated upon above or if you blocked text-from-email outright e.g. via the ActiveArmor app.
