I received an email to change password by November 11th as Spectrum was doing email updates. I use a legacy twcny.rr.com email address.. I did change the password .. Now I am unable to gain access to email on any of my devices - ipad..outlook ..iphone.. Only able to view it on spectrum.net. I have tried contacting support and each time I get the same script.. it is a third party problem .. Which it is not.. as I get told each time the user name or password in my third party app is incorrect.. What is going on ..? This is ridiculously inconvenient and frustrating.. I have had this email address for almost 30 years.. Something in the spectrum servers is not communicating with the twcny server.. How can this be fixed.. I asked spectrum helped to be connected to a supervisor and just got the run around about 3rd party apps again. Any help would be appreciated..

I have the same issue. Of our accounts, I have changed passwords on two of the email logins. It seems to authenticate properly for other devices in the primary account, but all others while showing in the People under settings (presumably spectrum ID), the password change produces an authentication error on the mail.twc.com server for incoming and outgoing mail. I will change my other three after the 11th to have three days where it still works for my kids on their phone. Support is rough as they state it is an issue in the 3rd party app and not their problem when it is clearly a configuration of their new identity server.

Same here, but only one email will not work on 3rd party email client, the other one works fine. Spectrum Chat says it's not their end since the email is able to log in to the new spectrum.net website. It cannot log into the webmail portal that is going away, but the email client keeps giving error that server says wrong credentials. It seems the email client is still trying to log into the old webmail portal that the email cannot log into anymore. I've tried several configurations, but none are working. Funny that it works with the email account that works on spectrum.net and the webmail.spectrum.net email portal. I find it odd that the same settings would not work for both email accounts.

Hi @hsweeting, @JoyAndWalter, @4seas, welcome to our community!

I'm sorry for the trouble with our email service. Unfortunately the assistance we can provide for 3rd party mail clients is limited. I recommend first verifying you can access each email through Spectrum.net and if so then remove and re-add the email from your mail client using these server settings and your new password.

William, believe me I have tried your suggestions repeatedly on several devices. Using you settings..I can get verified working with smtpmserver,,but every time I try to get incoming mail with imap…I get the message username or password is incorrect,,,this is clearly an authentication problem nyour end and one of your servers,,..I even changed my apassword back to my original password to see if it would work,,,it should have .. but spectrum needs to update authentication on the old twcny.r.com servers…I am not the only person with this problem,,,and expect to see a lot more similar threads in the upcoming days,,I don’t have time to sit on tech support for 3-4 hours…Have already wasted. Half a day trying to resolve this and been given tehnsame party line speech about third party emails and server settings..,

@hsweeting will you please confirm if you can sign in at Spectrum.net using the email address and your new password? Can you access the webmail using the "Check Mail" link, and send/receive through there?

Yes, yes and yes to everything hsweeting has said. It all started with the "change password thing". The email that is having the "incorrect username or password" message can log into the spectrum.net, but it cannot get into email client nor the old webmail portal after the password change. My other email that is still working can log into spectrum.net, the email client and the old webmail portal. The emails that work had no problem with the password update. The email having the problem had to change password by going to the forgot password link. It could not log into the spectrum.net. at that time. It said it was not in their system or something like that. It seems like the email that works is in both systems. The one that is not working is not in the webmail portal system therefore, cannot log into the email client. I have tried all the new settings and auto find settings etc… But the settings should be the same for both emails anyway. I cannot even have messages forwarded from the email that is not working to my email that is working because it does not have that option anymore because it can only sign into spectrum.net and not the webmail portal that gives that option.

I am having the same problem. I cannot retrieve email from ANY 3rd party client. Apple, iOS, Outlook, Gmail. I changed the PW as requested, and I have not been able to retrieve email since Thursday , 11/6. I have been on the phone a chat 9 times. I have been told: 1. It is a problem with Apple, MS, Google; 2. It is a known problem, but you will have to just use the Spectrum webmail from now on; 3. We know it is a problem but will be fixed in 48 hours (that was 4 days ago and still not fixed.

This is a real management failure. Roll out a required PW change on 1 week's notice, but do not test the systems to make sure they are not causing a disruption.

I am having the same problem. I changed my password for my rr.com email on 11/9 due to missing the required upper case letter in my password. After the first change the mail syncing on my MAC (MS Outlook 365) and my iPhone 15 pro max failed with error AUP#Out-1130. I proceeded to change it 3 more times no change. I also couldn't login in to spectrum.net. Finally i chatted with support no resolution. I talked to tech support 833-267-6094 and we were finally able to resolve accessing my rr.com email via spectrum.net by clearing the cache on my browser. Still no 3rd party syncing. All settings are correct. With much hesitation I went ahead and deleted the rr.com account on my iPhone and poof, now the mail app for rr.com is empty after re-adding the account due to syncing failure. Fortunately I did not delete the rr.com account on my MAC so all my account email files are still there but there is still no connection to the server. I gave up on trying to get the 3rd party apps to sync yesterday so since I also have a gmail account (secondary) I am transitioning all my sites/contacts to that account. I know eventually Spectrum will no longer support those legacy email accounts on their server so it is something we will all face in the future. The silver lining if there is one, is this issue was inevitable so it forced my hand to make the change now. My wife didn't change her password, so far everything is still syncing. But she will have to move over to gmail as well. I can still access my rr.com account via spectrum.net for now. For the record this is not a 3rd party issue, it is definitely an issue connecting to the spectrum server.
