Sending emails from my Road Runner email fails when connected to my Norton VPN - if I disconnect the VPN it works just fine. Why?

    Hello and welcome @Golferdonm,

VPN usage can cause issues with Spectrum ID, email usage and risk assessment of the connection. Does your VPN provide a US based IP address? Access to email and spectrum.net is not supported outside the US. A VPN with a US based IP may allow access, but we can't guarantee or support accessibility through a VPN.

It's a US site - actually I can choose among various US sites - I usually use Chicago.

In most cases, connecting to a US server should let you be able to send emails but there could be several reasons why it failed. It is very possible that that the server you are connecting to is blocking the email. I would recommend you try connecting to other VPN servers to see if there is a difference.

Another possible issue is that our email server can detect suspicious activities. Since you are connecting directly from a Spectrum IP address, it might flag the email sending. Most often this happens if you send a large amount of email messages.

It would be helpful if you provide us any error messages or bounce back messages you are receiving. It is helpful to identify the cause.
