spectrum tv app defaulting to spectrum news

The recent periodic insertion of spectrum news is beyond annoying. I'm pursuing other approaches for watching tv. Having it pop up instead of the last channel I had watched, when I start watching, and adding it in the guide without any way to un favorite it is completely obnoxious. If your "news channel" is great it will do well on its own not because it's been shoved down the throat of thousands of customers to get your viewer numbers up. I'm looking for a better TV app and there seems to be a lot of choice these days.
