High Split Upgrades started in Seminole/Largo, FL:
I got emails and text messages last week from Spectrum stating that upgrades would be completed today between 6:00am and 5:00pm and to expect internet and TV outages.
Our internet has been out pretty much the entire time. We have seen significant clusters of Spectrum vehicles driving around the local area. We have many Spectrum vans in my neighborhood right now.
I hope this gives people an idea of what to expect. This also informs others in this area that the upgrades have finally started in Pinellas County. Our area just recently got fiber from Frontier a couple months ago and they are running more fiber underground again. I asked them and was told a company is installing fiber optics and is going to sell access to the network to other companies. They said that they have contracts with T-Mobile, AT&T and IQ Fiber. So these 3 companies will be offering services to customers in the future once the fiber is buried and the network gets activated.
I think these extra fiber providers might be why high split upgrades have started here. I’m still staying with Spectrum because the TV experience is drastically better compared to online TV services. Switching to DirecTV Stream had the closest experience to Spectrum but ended up being far more expensive. Getting my upload speeds significantly upgraded (500-1,000mbps) is more than enough for my needs doing YouTube uploads, etc. These upgrades and the better TV experience will make me very happy and content.
Hopefully this information will benefit other customers especially in this area.
