On selecting show to record, it changes to Spanish version of the show
I use the spectrum tv app and to set up my recording schedule and this is driving me crazy.
I search for "Formula 1" each week (because the formula 1 series recording flat out misses things or I end up with only spanish recordings)
I will see Formula 1 Free Practice 1, Formula 1 Qualifying etc
When I select them so that I I can record it, it shows up as Gran Premio de... The spanish version!!
I cannot find the english version of what I want to record other than scrolling in the guide to try and find it. I don't understand spanish.

Hi!
What device are you using and what troubleshooting have you tried? Does this only happen with this program, or other programs as well? Does the same thing happen if you use a browser or a different device to record the programming?

I am using an android pixel 7 pro but I asked someone with an iPhone to do the same thing and it is also messed up with his account. Only seen this with "Formula 1" search and probably happens with everyone. I believe I have the same problem in the browser, but I cannot try as I am not on a spectrum network at the moment.

Good afternoon @davidk12!
You also want to make sure that for the Spectrum devices you are using that Secondary Audio Programing or SAP is turned off in settings. Check audio or language settings for the device(s) playing Spanish commentary and turn off SAP.
If the guide program description is in Spanish as shown on some of your provided screenshots above, than that audio language will be in Spanish by default because it is a Spanish speaking network.

No sweat. It looks like you've got the English-language alternative simulcast (on ESPN2 in this case) selected to record despite how ESPN's top-level program listing is based on Spanish-language ESPN DEPORTES being their main catch-all channel for F1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix 2025 coverage, and for which they appear to have an English-language alternative simulcast for each event that will variously be on either ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU.
Not too uncommon of a scenario with live international sporting telecasts as far as i have known.

P.S.: You'll have to take what i said above with a grain of salt, for:
- The top-level program listing has since been updated to English! (Therefore, just for kicks, i'd make sure it's still scheduled to record.)
- While the first scheduled hour & 25 minutes of a 3½-hour block of coverage scheduled to begin late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, depending on your time zone, is scheduled to air on ESPN2 with the next two hours & five minutes on ESPN, the first 30 minutes of that block is scheduled to be pre-empted by Fútbol picante on ESPN DEPORTES.

I managed to record everything I needed by looking at the spanish recording and then scrolling down the guide until I found the english broadcast. I believe I have only seen this for Formula 1, but that is mostly what I set up the DVR for. I have to wait until the next race is in the guide and I can check from a browser. I think I have tried from browser before and had the same issue.

So I am trying the same thing from a browser, The first few I was able to select and get to the english version and record but when I tried the "Qualifying" it ended up at the spanish one again. See attached,.

Hello,
I can also confirm this error going online to The Guide using a web browser through My Account. The first five listings are listed in the schedule to be showing on English ESPN stations. But when you click on them, the description turns to Spanish and it lists ESPN DEPORTS (Spanish ESPN) for the program description information, (See highlights in the photo.. The first five shows are not English descriptions.)
I don't have a camera to do a cable box guide comparison for a screenshot. But if you want to search for Formula 1 Racing, see if you get the same results as indicated in my screenshot My cable box is the no clock Arris 210 DVR.
Also guys, do this search on a XUMO streaming box for Formula 1 Racing and post the results for Formula 1 Racing in the Guide and on the Spectrum App. If you have an older model cable box, do a Formula 1 Racing Search (Such as the older ODN or I-Gude legacy software.) on that as well.
If you scroll down to "On Later" you might get an English Description, but often not. The show description is the version that is being recorded .

So the top-level listing heads-up display is geared for a Spanish-language audience. Maybe ESPN has a reason for that. It has no bearing on the aural language of the coverage, which, except for on ESPN DEPORTES, i believe, is English.

Good Evening @HT_Greenfield ,
I think it's a software listing data error. If it were correct, those five events should all say ESPN DEPORTS in the search results. Than the Spanish descriptions would logically follow. But when the search channels say ESPNWHD, ESPNHD, and ESPN2HD, there's no question that those should all be the English speaking broadcast. If the Spanish listings are presented, they should say ESPNDEPORTS placed at the bottom of the search list.

I'll buy that @Satch but it's an international sport and most of the events are carried on ESPN DEPORTES and more of them thereupon than any single other ESPN channel so hombres need not worry if the marquesina está en español when they can watch or record on whichever other ESPN channel it's on besides ESPN DEPORTES. ☘️

Thanks @HT_Greenfield and @Satch So it looks like I am not the only one and that it is a poor interface/application between the guide and finding the right detailed channel.
The search results are correct, shows me what I want to see, but then the issue is when you select the option you want to record (on that channel), you get some other channel result. Is there a way to get a bug report to Spectrum development team because things like this don't come off as a well executed DVR solution.
Thanks

Hi David,
What happens is a Spectrum moderator reads the issues, collects feedback, and than forwards it to the right department for review and fixing.
Nielsen, a division of Gracenote media provides the channel listings for Spectrum and other guides, Users who have this issue should file a bug report about the Formula 1 racing listing bug on Spectrum Guide and the Spectrum app. Title your Email "Formula 1 Racing Data Listing Error." Nielsen's email address is, gn.customercare@nielsen.com In your email, provide the following information:
1.) The name of your cable company. (Spectrum)
2.) The device (s) you use to access channel listings through Spectrum (Spectrum Cable Box, Xumo Box, I-Phone, Roku… ) (etc.)
3.) A description of the problem (Example) "Search results for Formula 1 Racing Gran Prix and Bahrain Gran Prix show that they are set to record in Spanish on ESPN DEPORTS when selected in the guide. The top tier listing data for channel information is wrong (several rows deep.) (Check your specific device for how many rows down the problem occurs and site that.) The top tier data is showing the wrong channel for this content, and assumes the races will record in English. But when they are selected, the show is listed in Spanish on ESPN Deportes and furthermore, records Spanish audio."
4.) You will need to send screenshots attached to your email to describe the problem. (You can use the ones above, if you don't have a camera or video phone to do screenshots for your email.)
5.) Provide your own email address in the email.
6.) In your email, provide your state, city, and zip code.

Update: I've been a moron about this and i apologize profusely for that but i think i get it now:
- Hit an episode airing from the guide: no problem. It'll bring up the right marquee page either way.
- Hit an episode airing on any other ESPN channel than DEPORTES from search/lookup results, if there's a simulcast on DEPORTES: problem! It can or will alternatively bring up the marquee page for the simulcast on DEPORTES and that's what will get scheduled if you hit record❗️

What's up @HT_Greenfield?
Except #2 won't work. If you look at my screen shot above, none of the selected programs say ESPN DEPORTES in the search results listing This means, the listing that appears before action is taken on a race to watch.. The problem is the following:
1.) Search for Formula 1 Grand Prix Racing.
2.) Search inquiry shows a list of races and results with channels and times.
3.) Here is the error- When selecting from the top tier of those results to find the race to watch, (First five races in my screenshot) regardless of channel in the search results, the listing automatically changes to a Spanish description and lists ESPN DEPORTS as the station that will record.
4.) What needs to be done to fix this error?- The top tier of the listing results needs to not change to a Spanish description, stop incorrectly recording on ESPN DEPORTS when a race is selected, and record on the channels originally seen in the search results before a race is selected for recording.
5.) ESPN DEPORTS needs to be added to the list of original search results where if you want a Spanish recording, you only get it one way. That is by clicking or tapping on the ESPN DEPORTS channel to specifically record the race on the ESPN DEPORTS ( ESPN Spanish ) channel.

@Satch : That's exactly what i meant. To be more clear for you:
If you hit an episode scheduled on any other ESPN channel than DEPORTES from search/lookup results, if the event is also scheduled to be simulcast on DEPORTES (most of them are) regardless of lookup appearances: problem! It can or will alternatively bring up the marquee page for the simulcast on DEPORTES from which you can't schedule the English-language alternative simulcast to record on whichever other ESPN channel. This is a problem, Satch; not something that will "work."
As long as the idiosyncrasy stands, i'd find the events i want to record from the lookup results and then find them in the guide and hit them up from there.
@davidk12 : i'm a moron and i apologize profusely for not getting it previously and, furthermore, if i still don't get it.
Over and out. ☘️
