Why did a movie I was watching suddenly change to another movie?

I was watching this morning on FXM and about a half hour into it, it changed to another movie already in progress. Changing the channel and returning to FXM didn't make it return to the original movie. I have a traditional cable receiver - not streaming.

    I was watching regular cable TV, not On Demand, DVR or streaming. Happened about 3:30 am. The movie suddenly changed from "How Green Was My Valley" (not at a commercial break - FXM doesn't have those during a movie) to "The King and I" which also was in progress (didn't start at the beginning).

    Heard that and i do see where "How Green Was My Valley" was supposed to have aired on linear FXM in the time-frame cited with more airings coming up soon as in e.g. March 11th, 15th & 17th.

    "The King and I" was not scheduled to air in that time-frame but i see where FXM has airings of it coming up soon as in on March 7th (very soon!) & 8th.

    If the same thing happens again the next time then i would guess that the source video file was inadvertently cross-compiled per se but, in any case, i agree with Satch that such things are pretty much on the origination distributors rather than on any re-distributors.

    Darn if I couldn't see that movie again! "HGWMV" was aired this morning (March 11) on FXM. About an hour into it, the screen just went black and a few moments later a message popped up - "FXM is currently unavailable. Please try again later." I waited about 5 minutes and tried that channel again. There was a picture, but it was frozen, then I saw the pop-up message again.

    Today it was during the day. The movie was on the scheduled from 10:40am and to 12:40 pm.

    Thanks for the complete movie. It's going to be aired again on Sunday morning from 3 to 5 am. Maybe I will be awake then.

    Hello @deedleann824;

    Your cable box is one of the older ones that we provided and does not run our current software. If you continue to see issues with the channel changing all of a sudden then we may need to switch to one of our newer cable boxes. We can also get a technician out to check for any potential signal issues that could be causing it.

    Thanks, I'll let you know. BTW - I probably have an older receiver because my TV doesn't have an HDMI port - only coax.

    "HGWMV" was on this morning and I was able to watch all the way through!
