Xumo pin for purchases

When setting up Xumo several months ago, under Settings/Parental/Manage PIN settings/PIN options I turned on 'PIN required for purchases'. However, I recently rented a movie and was not asked for a pin. Instead, confirm purchase went immediately into showing the movie. I can find no other option under settings/parental control that seems to apply. How do I get this option to work? My TV is an older non-smart TV.

To enable the pin properly, you will need to enable it on watch.spectrum.net. Have you been doing it there? Also can you test this on a different device like your cell phone to see if it is happening? Can you also provide some examples of shows where it did not ask for the pin?

After enabling the pin on watch.spectrum.net, the TV did indeed request the pin for movie rental. I have no idea how any Spectrum user would know to do this when setting up the Xumo box. The first movie involved was Song Sung Blue, and the second Song Without a Name (which I didn't really want to see but was just checking to see if a pin would be requested).

But I am grateful that you provided the answer, which will prevent my grandchildren from making purchases without my knowledge. And me from myself when trying to select a movie without wearing my glasses.

    Hi @BrendaH1

When you went into the options did you confirm verify that the pin option is still turned on? When you last turned it on, did you receive an error?

I have turned it back off and on again, and had no errors. I restarted the Xumo box, checked to be sure the pin option was still on, and tried to rent a movie. Once again it did not require the entry of the pin.

Just F.Y.I., i can't find anything to imply that the Xumo PIN would apply to anything beyond stuff accessed via e.g. the Xumo Store and/or the Xumo Play app and/or the Xumo account in general except for "certain apps and purchases."

You may get ahold of Xumo support directly in order to find out more about it and/or convey any feedback about their guidance on the matter by hitting the 💬 [= chat] hyperlink towards the lower right-hand corner of any Xumo support webpage e.g.:
