Retiring an email id
I am considering switching internet service to Google Fiber or AT&T.
From reading the forum, is it correct I will lose access to my long-time email ids if I cancel the Spectrum internet service, and it is my responsibility to copy out any old emails and contact every vendor that might have the old email?
If yes, my follow-up question is whether in future Spectrum might assign this retired email id to a new customer, or if the email id is permanently locked? The concern is a security hole where a malicious actor could request my retired email id, then gain access to password reset or MFA processes still tied to the external vendors I wasn't able to track down.

Hello and welcome to the Spectrum Community!
Firstly yes if you cancel your Spectrum Internet service the email service that is included with the service does get suspended and deleted. You are responsible for moving over any emails you wish to keep and changing the email address on various sites/apps/accounts. After a certain time it does get purged from the system. If you have an older roadrunner or rr.com email address those are phased out and no longer can be created as those are connected to original Time Warner Cable accounts and all email addresses going forward are spectrum.net accounts.
